The said law was publicized last July 20, 2020, by the Head of State, intended to change and ameliorate the working and living condition of artists, thereby pushing them to more professionalism in their art. Besides, Minister Bidoung Kpwatt indicated that the law equally secures the judicial framework of artists.

At the ceremony to express gratitude, some artists took the floor to applaud the cultural policy of President Paul Biya. To this effect, musician Eko Roosevelt spoke in French on behalf of the French speaking colleagues, while artist Ateh Bazor spoke in English on behalf of the English speaking artists.

They thanked the President whom they qualified as “helmsman of peace” for his engagement and devotion for his action to improve their living standard.

“We reaffirm our unconditional support to the Head of State for the promulgation of a national cultural policy which promote moral, social, human and esthetical values in which Cameroonians recognise themselves as worthy sons and daughters of the same fatherland,” Read the note addresses to President Paul Biya.

However, the subsector of musical art remains the prey of several upheavals occurring in Cameroon. The minister of Art and Culture seized the opportunity to recall musician artist to order.

“Unfortunately the recent news on artists in this discipline does not reflect a peaceful and reassuring environment for our populations. Between intrigues complaints and heart-breaking on social media. We are very far from the peaceful environment to which our cultural art of appeasing essence refers,” decried the Minister of Art and Culture.

However, apart from sport associations, it is now clear that, artists and cultural associations are urged to organise themselves and apply the new promulgated law.
