Cameroon : WeCashUp Creates New App in Support of Mobile Money Sale Agents

The Cameroonian entrepreneur and founder of WeCashUp, Cedric Atangana has launched an application to formalize the activities of small agents operating in Mobile Money sales point, thereby reducing the long processes  carried out by agents to execute the various transactions.

Talking, on the Application, Cedric Atangana specified that, the applications will simplify the long procedures carried out by Mobile Money sales agents commonly known in Cameroon as ‘call boxers’ to rapidly perform their task without internet connection.

“It is an all-in-one digital financial service gateway that aggregates, automates, digitizes and secures all deposit, withdrawal, bill payment and agent accounting operation through a single terminal without need for an internet connection.” Read a note on the WeCashUp site.

This is due to the fact that, agents of Mobile Money sales point based in the informal sector are often neglected in the value chain of telecommunication operators whereas, More than $40 billion was collected by these small agents in Sub-Saharan Africa, according to a 2019 report of the Association of Global Mobile Operators, GSMA.

The application WeCachUp is available on App store and Google play store since October and, it had already been tested with agents in Cameroon, Congo, Chad Ivory Coast and Senegal according to Agence Ecofin.

Cedric Atangana therefore urges investors to extend his application and formalize the activities to reach over 100,000 Mobile Money sale points.
