 Cameroon : Bamoun Sultan Beseeches the Audience of Equatorial Guinea's President to Foumban

Bamoun Sultan, Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya invited the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo , to attain the inauguration of the new Bamoun Kings Museum in Foumban, West region of Cameroon.

Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya requested the presence of President Obiang Nguea during a visit carried out in Equatorial Guinea on October 22, 2020, in his palace at Malabo, where he formally sent his invitation for this event scheduled for the coming days.

The two personalities discussed the inauguration of the new museum, which cost a little more than 1.1 billion FCFA. Besides, Equatorial Guinea appears on the list of donors who have contributed in the construction of this important cultural and architectural heritage.

Speaking to the press, the Bamoun sultan disclosed that he invited President Obiang Nguema due to the long-time relationship they have since 1970. In addition, Sultan Njoya explained that, he has been Ambassador of Cameroon to Equatorial Guinea, between 1970 and 1974.

 “I came to see the President as a brother, I was Ambassador of Cameroon to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea from 1970 to 1974. During this period, I met President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, a friendship several years ago.” Sultan Njoya told the press.

“Most often, I travel here to say hello to H.E Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and we discussed of everything. I appreciate the warm welcome he always reserves for me, I keep a lot of affection for this country, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea,” he added.

This Bamoun Kings Museum is a majestic building raised in Foumban, capital of the kingdom and dedicated to the conservation of the rich cultural heritage of the Bamoun people.
